New Class

New Shipments

We received many boxes of product while I was at Inspired and I've check it all in. I'm most excited about a new line of alterable mini albums from Punky Sprouts. I actually used one this past weekend in Margie's mini workshop. They are made with canvas, acrylic and corrugated board. Really cute stuff. Also got in more of the newest Tim Holtz Sizzix dies and texture fades including his easel stand. New Prima flowers, Disney paper and embellishments, Darcie's acrylic charm sets, We R 12x12 albums and refills..... Plus more. Stop by and check it out.

At my first official workshop. About to get down and dirty with encaustic art. Took three mini workshops yesterday, one with Debby Schuh and one with Margie. Love them!

Ahoy Mateys

As y'all can probably tell, I love scrappin' my pugs.  They're just so fun.  For Halloween, Ziggy was a pirate.  I found the perfect mini pirate hat for him at Spirit Halloween.  Can you believe that it is actually an adult hat?  Ha!!  And no I didn't make a special pirate vignette for Ziggy.  The tombstone and skeleton are part of the spooky decorations in my front yard. 

For the layout, I used Creative Imaginations' Breathless line by Marah Johnson and plenty of grungeboard elements.  Notice the grungepaper frame that I cut out using a Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations die.  I inked the grungepaper with my ink blending tool and some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  And then I misted it with water.  I love how water reacts with Distress Ink and changes how it looks.  The water mist somehow gives the Distress Ink more depth.  This technique also works great on canvas pages or embellishments.  There's one more trick I want to tell you about.  The letters on the page, Pirate Pug, are simply made from black cardstock, with a twist.  I used the Sizzix Upon A Time die to cut the letters and then glued them to the page.  THEN I carefully "colored" in the letters using Glossy Accents.  The Glossy Accents acts as a dimensional glaze and really makes the letters pop.

 

Prima Layout and CHA Winter Release

I just saw the catalog of Prima's winter releases for 2011.  And no surprise here -- everything is gorgeous.  Love the trinkets and papers and beautiful flowers.  I can't wait to see it all in person while in Los Angeles at the end of the month.  The first product ships in February.  So we don't have to wait too long.  In the mean time, check out this layout I did over the weekend.  Everything on it is from the store (AlteredAngel.com) and made by Prima, even the paper and alphabets.  The picture was a little fuzzy but it was the only one I had of this important day.  So I decided to change it to a sepia tone - and then just went for it.  This was the day that we adopted our second pug, Dixie.  She is the one that I am holding.  We adopted her from the fantastic folks at Southeast Pug Rescue and Adoption.  They are a wonderful organization.  So if you have any spare change jingling around in your pocket, please visit the SEPRA website, rescuepug.com, and make a donation or even better, become a virtual foster.

 

Another Tinsel and Twig Layout

This is one of my favorite recent layouts.   I used the Tinsel and Twig line from The Girls Paperie.  Love that line.  Anyhow, the layout is about our first ever white Christmas.  We live in Alpharetta, Georgia and it was the first white Christmas in Atlanta since 1882.  Both of my boys had asked Santa for a surprise -- and a white Christmas was delivered!

 

Peace On Earth Picture Frame

 
Some of you might recognize the theme of this frame from Tim Holtz's blog.  I adapted his Day 7 tag to make this frame.  I absolutely loved the technique and color scheme but wanted something more than a tag or card.  So I went to my local superstore and bought a blank MDF frame. Just an hour later, I had this beautiful frame made to give as a gift.  As a matter of fact, I made several of them.  Instead of stamping a musical background, I used musical note scrapbook paper.  It's by Advantus, The Girls' Paperie, Tinsel and Twig collection.  I used Brushed Corduroy and Wild Honey Distress Inks along with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist to color the background.  That color combo is just perfect.  Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

I am excited to announce that www.AlteredAngel.com is now carrying We R Memory Keepers.  We just got in the new Merry January line.  It has some great colors and is perfect for winter, snow and fall pictures.  Quite a few of the papers don't have snowflakes on them.  So check it out.
