Amazing Make and Take with Sabrina Somerby

I am so excited to host what I hope is the first of many visits from Sabrina.  She is a hugely talented crafter and teacher.  On Tuesday, May 14 from 10:30 to 2, she will be helping you make this incredible canvas using WOW embossing powders.  

Each dress form highlights a different technique.  My favorite is the ombre glitter.  You do not need to bring any tools to the session.  And will take home your very own 8x10 canvas.  But we do ask that you pre-pay the $15 fee.

New Class

You asked for it. You got it. Our most requested type of class on our customer survey was Technique. And we just happen to have the queen of technique coming by the store on Wednesday, March 6. It's the fabulous and super fun Jen Starr.

MEMORY ART JOURNALING ($45, 3-4 hours), 10:30 start time

If you are a scrapbooker at heart but are interested in mixed media and art journaling then this is the perfect workshop to get your creativity started! We will construct the base of your art journal in class and focus on techniques using a variety of mediums from Art Anthology, Viva Décor and Ranger to create some stunning backgrounds and effects while we work in your own photos. **Please bring to class a variety of photos (color or black and white) that can be easily cut out around the figures…precutting these before class will speed up the process. Craft knife and cutting matt or detailed scissors, variety of paint brushes, adhesives and a palette knife if you have one.

In this class you will learn some creative mixed media techniques to help make your projects as beautiful as your life!  We’ll be working with die cut elements from both Tim Holtz and Memory Box, Distress Inks (including the limited edition colors), Gesso, Crafter’s Workshop  Templates from the fabulous Dyan Reavely and some of my favorite Glimmer Mist colors in this year’s Spring/Summer Limited editions that I designed for Tattered Angels…plus many more fun things will be incorporated throughout the book.  This is an 8x9” chipboard gate book with flipping and folding interactive pages inside…SO much fun!!  Focus will be on inky techniques and book construction.

NEW CLASSES

On Tuesday, October 9 we will be hosting two classes taught by Jen Starr.  Jen Starr is a fully Certified and Ranger Recognized Instructor.  She was the 2007-2008 Design Team Coordinator for Ranger Industries and continues to teach and do private design work for them.  She enjoys being a Golden Ambassador for Tattered Angels and has recently designed the color palette for the 2012 Spring and Summer Limited Edition Glimmer Mist.  As a Mixed Media Artist with a fine art background there are many companies and products that inspire Jen and she is an endorsed educator and works closely with many of them such as Ten Second Studio, Canvas Corp, 7Gypsies, Stampers Anonymous, Faber Castell, Basic Grey and Prima, just to name a few.  Jen is also the Creative Director of a new company, Art Anthology.

Jen absolutely loves to teach her students to use their creativity and help them think outside the box. It makes her so happy to be able to share her skills, knowledge and love of the art of scrapbooking and stamping with so many others.

**Please NOTE:  title is not included so you will be able to make it any theme you want.

Ink Boot Camp from 5-9, Tueday, October 9, $55. 

This workshop will give you a basic training on a variety of different types of inks and embossing powders.  You'll learn what they are, what they do, what surfaces they work best on and how to choose the right ink for your projects. Working mainly with Ranger product lines you'll explore the differences
between inks such as dye, pigment, alcohol, archival, Distress, Colorwash, and more.  We will make a technique reference book with 6x6" mini-layouts/card fronts with instructions for each page and type of
inks used.  This class will give you the knowledge to use inks properly and to their full potential!

**Please bring to class: Basic tool kit should always be brought to each class including scissors, 12” paper trimmer, Ink Blending Tool with foam, pencil and a variety of adhesives…Glossy Accents is always recommended.  Plus a heat gun if you have one, an acrylic block, pencil and paint brush.  Dress to get messy or bring an apron!

Join us this Saturday, May 12, from 1-3 for an Art Journal/Altered Book class featuring Dyan Reaveley's stencils and Dylusions Ink Sprays.  In the class, you will receive a hardback book and learn how Dyan transforms a simple novel into a fabulous art journal.  You'll also make some colorful tags and play with washi/tissue tape.  It will be loads of fun and you'll leave with a new appreciation for sprays and stencils -- and your very own art journal.  The class is Saturday, May 12 from 1-3 and costs $20.  Everything you need for the class will be provided.

National Scrapbook Day

I want to remind everyone that this Saturday, May 5, is National Scrapbook Day.  We will be celebrating at the store with 20% off of everything.

Spring Class Schedule

Let's kick off the schedule with an amazing Altered Frame class taught by Jeremy Bright.   You will take home a gorgeous wooden picture frame made with Mica fragments.  The class is on Saturday, March 31 from 1-3:30 and costs $25.  Everything you need for the class will be provided.

Our next class is a Little Darlings Mini Album Class featuring Graphic 45 papers.

This adorable album is made using Graphic 45 papers (the Little Darlings collection) and a Graphic 45 Kraft Envelope Album.  The finished album, when closed, is approximately 4”x6”.  The album suits either a boy or girl and can easily be customized.  This is a great mini album to give as a welcome baby gift or to scrap vintage baby pictures.  You’ll also leave the class with a generous amount of leftover paper and chipboard embellishments.  The class is Saturday, April 21 from 1-3 and costs $25.  Bring scissors, a paper trimmer, Wonder/Redline tape, a glue stick or tape runner and foam squares.
